Food Leadership Commercial Changes

Dear Supplier,

I wanted to get in touch to say hello and introduce myself in my new capacity as Asda’s SVP for Commercial.  I am immensely proud to have been given the responsibility to lead our Food and General Merchandise teams and am excited about what the future holds for our business.

This is an exciting time for a strong independent Asda, powered by Walmart.  We have momentum on our side and customers continue to give us credit for our continuing drive to improve their experience across all of our formats.

I firmly believe that to accelerate our business to deliver for the Asda customer this is going to require a deeper level of collaboration with you, our supply partners. To succeed we must be aligned in our approach to deliver the best offer for the Asda customer.  This means working in collaboration in all aspects of our mutual business: be that designing the most relevant customer centric offers; removing costs from our end to end supply chains, or in creating innovation pipelines that delight customers.  We have to simplify our processes, drive quicker decision-making and create clearer lines of accountability to set ourselves up for long-term success.

To support this, I am making some changes to the structure within the Food Commercial team. I am creating two separate teams to focus on our core business: Non Edible Grocery and Edible Grocery. I am also changing how we manage our commercial execution and folding this team back into the Non-Edible Grocery, Edible Grocery, Fresh and Own Brand teams.

Lizzy Massey will lead our Non Edible Grocery team and Tracy Ford will lead our Edible Grocery & BWS team.

I am also pleased to announce Ian Cummings will step up to SD Bakery, reporting into Richard Dent who will continue to lead the Fresh business

Paul Gillow, VP - Own Brand, will broaden his remit by adding Commercial Strategy to his portfolio. Lee Mountain will report directly to Paul in the new role of SD Commercial Strategy.

I look forward to engaging with you all, and you have my commitment that I will be supporting my team to deliver deeper collaboration with our key supplier partners.

Derek
