Our new eyewear collection is super stylish and made from 95% recycled materials

The innovative Bio Eyes frames are exclusive to Asda and available in all our Asda Optical stores now. Category planner Tom Aylett tells us more...

We're delighted to launch an exclusive new collection of eyewear at Asda Optical which not only looks great, it's great for the environment too.

The lightweight stylish frames from BioEyes are made from 95% recycled materials sourced from other spectacle frames as well as discarded metal and plastic off-cuts from the manufacturing of frames.

The collection is exclusive to Asda and has been ten years in the making. The goal was to deliver a sustainable product with no compromise in quality or price.

Our suppliers began by exploring a variety of materials and constructions and developed a product that achieved this goal; however, it was only available in very dark colours. We wanted the eyewear to really stand apart in terms of both sustainability and style.

Our buying team worked closely with the supplier to design styles that are viable using their manufacturing process while also remaining fashionable and great quality. Although made from recycled materials they look and feel like glasses made from conventional materials. We're all delighted with the results!

You can choose prescription lenses, varifocal lenses or thinner lenses if required with your BioEyes frames – or even prescription sunglass lenses.

All our BioEye glasses are £80 including your choice of lenses, so the price you see is the price you pay. And if you purchase a 2nd pair you save £40 off the total cost.

We think sustainability will become the “new normal” – one day all products will be built this way. We're passionate about doing our part to kick-start this movement in our industry and empowering our customers to drive this change through their purchases. Ultimately this is what it’s all about.

BioEyes are available at all of our 156 Asda Optical stores – ask in store for more details.
